Answer: 1.Responsibilities of Supervisor The manager of Foothills Medical Centre has recently hired three new supervisors for supervising the staffs at food services, housekeeping services and laundry services. The prime concern for the supervisors will be to ensure compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act. Occupational Health and Safety Training The supervisors must ensure that the workers are completely aware of all the hazards associated with their jobs Employees are to be given training on the utilization of safety equipment towards effective health and safety at the workplace Workplace inspections Formal and ongoing inspections of workplace highly needed for checking the effectiveness of previous health and safety regulations (Work.alberta.ca, 2017). Therefore, the workers of food, housekeeping and laundry services of Foothills Medical Centre can get effective health and safety at their workplace. The supervisors can eliminate and control the hazards identifies beforehand they affect the workers Occupational Health and Safety Training Helps in own safety of the workers at their respective workplace Workers can be aware of proper utilization of personal defensive equipments towards complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ccohs.ca, 2017) Workplace inspections Important to recognize outdated controls and new raised hazards in the food, housekeeping and laundry services Helps in eliminating potential hazards and framing new control measures Accident investigation Helps in indentifying the actual reasons of workplace injuries at Foothills Medical Centre Helps in building new workplace health and safety regulations for preventing the injuries from happening again Accident reporting Helps the authorities of Foothills Medical Centre towards framing better workplace and safety regulations based on the types of current workplace injuries Introduction of new legislation towards workers health and safety Table 4: Importance of Components (Source: Hc-sc.gc.ca, 2017) 5.Metrics Metrics for Measuring Health and Safety Metrics What How Rationale Numbers of safety Measures Measures the numbers of accidents occurred in the food, housekeeping and laundry services of Foothills Medical Centre (Hc-sc.gc.ca, 2017). Conducting survey all through the work of all employees in food, housekeeping and laundry services. It will be measured once in 15 days. Helps in ensuring workplace safety and any gaps in the work procedures that is against safety standard. Percentage of OHS complaints and suggestions Measures the numbers of claims from the workers regarding their health and safety issues at their workplace It will be measured from workers feedback and will be conducted once in a month.
